Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on July 23, 2026, issued a notification regarding the review of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) policy on the e-commerce sector.

The following has been stated: -

•The Government proposes to permit inventory-based e-commerce exclusively for exports of goods/products manufactured or produced in India. 

•The existing restrictions on B2C and inventory-based e-commerce will not apply to such exports, subject to the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, HBP and FEMA regulations. 

•The measure aims to facilitate greater exports by providing Indian sellers easier access to global markets through e-commerce platforms. 

•The proposed provision will be inserted as Para 5.2.15.2.5 under the FDI Policy.
